Adventure Learning app for iPhone and iPad

This app introduces the adventure learning framework, a hybrid distance education approach that provides students with opportunities to explore real-world issues through authentic learning experiences within collaborative online environments. This innovative design model engages students in an online adventure as they complete inquiry-based activities; converse and collaborate with field experts, peers, and others from around the world; and reflect on possible solutions to real-world problems.

With the Adventure Learning app, you can:

* Learn about the nine core principles of the adventure learning framework and how to use them to design your own adventure learning project.

* View video clips from successful adventure learning projects such as Earthducation, a new endeavor that is leading learners on an expedition to all seven continents as they explore the connections between education and sustainability; and the GoNorth! series of circumpolar dogsledding expeditions that engaged millions of students and teachers from around the world as they learned about climate change, sustainability, and the people and cultures of the Arctic.

* Keep up-to-date on the most current research on adventure learning and how K-20 classrooms are using adventure learning projects to generate transformational learning experiences.

Adventure Learning was pioneered by Aaron Doering, PhD, an associate professor in the Learning Technologies program at the University of Minnesota. Doering holds the Bonnie Westby Huebner Endowed Chair in Education and Technology and is co-director of the Learning Technologies Media Lab, a laureate of the prestigious humanitarian Tech Awards, and a fellow for the University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment.
